How you can help
Much more than just food
Feeding a family is about so much more than just food.
It opens doors to connection, support, and hope.
A box of food can bring a family together, it can remove isolation. It can spark happiness and nourish families. A meal can be the first step toward a GP appointment at our Calder Health Clinic, an introduction to our recovery detox services, or the start of a journey into housing. On Christmas Day, it is a beautiful representation of the community at its best.
Your generosity has the potential of creating long lasting change this Christmas. Christmas with the Mission offers so much more than a meal - it's often the first step into a brighter new year.
The magic of Christmas to our community
Every Christmas, the Auckland City Mission brings the magic of Christmas to our community. This year we’ll distribute thousands of food and gift parcels to families in need. Each parcel contains essential items and festive treats, including presents for tamariki, to help everyone celebrate Christmas with dignity.
We’re also hosting a special Christmas Day brunch at HomeGround, inviting hundreds of street whānau, tenants, and anyone in need of a meal. This gathering will be so much more than a nourishing meal, also fostering a sense of community, aroha and togetherness.
How you can get involved

Organise a food or present drive -
Become an Auckland Angel this Christmas
Rally your workplace, customers, book club, Facebook community group or gym to collect food and gifts for those who may otherwise go without this Christmas by taking part in Auckland’s Angels.
Last year, thanks to the incredible support of people like you, we distributed 30,000 gifts to tamariki and 7,000 Christmas food parcels to Aucklanders who would otherwise have gone without. As the cost-of-living crisis continues to have widespread impact, we know this will be another challenging Christmas for many families.
Making a difference is simple. Your efforts can light up the holidays for those who need it most.
Corporate/Commercial Support

Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai
At the Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai we believe in a Tāmaki Makaurau where everyone has the opportunity to thrive—a city where homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring, and where affordable, healthy homes are a reality for all. A place where everyone has access to nourishing kai and healthcare, including those affected by trauma, mental health challenges, and substance use.
While advocating for long-term systemic change, we provide immediate and essential support. Operating across 11 sites, with HomeGround at our heart, we offer a wide range of specialist wraparound services that evolve to meet the growing needs of our community. Our advocacy aims to drive the change necessary for a more equitable future.
Our work is powered by a dedicated team of skilled social and health workers, professional management, and the generosity of volunteers and donors. Each person plays a crucial role in ensuring we provide the highest level of care and support.
As we look toward our future, we are deeply committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We are proud to carry our Māori name, Te Tāpui Atawhai, and with that, we embrace the responsibility to be a place where two peoples come together. By fostering unity and acknowledging our role in the journey of restoration, we strive to contribute to a future where Aotearoa is a country of two founding peoples, moving forward together.
Join us in creating a city where everyone has the chance to thrive.
