Your legacy can feed, house, and heal — for years to come.

A gift in your will to Auckland City Mission – Te Tāpui Atawhai is one of the most meaningful ways you can shape the future of our city. It’s a lasting promise that people doing it tough will always find compassion, care, and hope here. No matter the size, your legacy will live on in every meal shared, every safe home offered, and every hand held in support. Together, we can create a Tāmaki Makaurau where everyone has the chance to thrive.

“Sandra left 25% of her estate to the Mission. As a nurse, she was passionate about helping others. She supported the Mission because of the inclusive, unconditional care offered to everyone—especially the rainbow community.”

How to leave a gift in your will

Leaving a gift in your will is a generous and personal decision. Here are some simple steps to guide you:

1. Talk it through - Start by speaking with your loved ones.

2. Seek advice - A lawyer can help you include Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai in your will.

3. Stay connected - If you'd like, let us know your intentions. We'd love a chance to thank you and share how your legacy will make a difference.

Making your decision

Choosing to leave a gift in your will is a remarkable way to reflect your values and the love you hold for your city. It’s a chance to create a legacy of compassion, one that will continue to put food on the table, provide safe shelter, and offer dignity and care for years to come.

No matter the size, your bequest becomes part of a lasting commitment to a kinder, more hopeful Auckland. Even 1% of your estate can make a huge difference, while still ensuring your loved ones are taken care of.

Types of gift

The three main types of gifts you can bequest to Auckland City Mission – Te Tāpui Atawhai are:

  • Percentage gift: A set percentage of your estate, which protects the value of your gift against inflation. Even 1% can make a huge difference!
  • Residual gift: The remainder (or part of the remainder) of your estate after loved ones are cared for, and expenses are covered.
  • Pecuniary gift: A specific sum of money, such as $10,000.

Where there’s a Will there’s a way

Sophie, our Individual Giving Specialist, has been part of the Mission’s fundraising team since 2021. Every day she sees how our services are transforming lives.

“The Mission’s work is so much more holistic than most people realise. What we do goes far beyond providing a meal or a place to sleep for a night. We help people to really recover. But it takes a lot of time and care to achieve that.”

Inspired by the work she raises money for, Sophie decided to make her own personal contribution—by leaving a gift to the Mission in her Will.
